How to write a report?

Now I will show you how to write a report in a simple way. What is a report ? Report is a thing that will present an observation, finding and information. Report should write in a formal way and it should have rich content. If you have given a topic to write a report, first of all you have to get knowledge about the topic. You should be aware about the topic and that particular area.

You can get data to write that report by primary sources or secondary sources. Interviews, questionnaires can get as primary sources. Internet, other reports, books etc can get as secondary sources. So after getting your topic you should think about the source where you get the data.




So now you have data about your topic. Now you should think about format of the report. This should be in a formal way. My accepted way is in below.

  1. Cover Page (This is the front page which should have a formal design which represent your report topic)
  2. Table of content (This should get finally after complete the writing report)
  3. Title Page (In this page you can add your basic data such as student number, name, report topic, year, lecture & etc.)
  4. Content (Your report content, this should be write like a flow with a formal manner)
  5. Summary (Summary of your report, overall finding)
  6. Bibliography (What are the sources you have got the information)
After considering about above all steps you can have a great formal report.

Things should be consider
  • Aware about topic
  • Get relevant information
  • Write your report by using formal language
  • Use spelling check
  • Use relevant pictures
  • Use a page border (Formal)
  • Insert page numbers
